Endometriosis
Comprehensive diagnosis and personalised management of endometriosis, addressing pain, fertility and quality of life.

What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a common condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it, most often on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or the lining of the pelvis. It affects approximately one in nine women and can cause pelvic pain (particularly around periods), heavy bleeding, pain with intercourse, and difficulty conceiving.
How is endometriosis managed in my practice?
Management is individualised, with a focus on alleviating symptoms, improving quality of life, and optimising fertility. Treatment is tailored to your symptoms, stage of life, and reproductive goals. Options may include hormonal therapies (such as the oral contraceptive pill, progesterone-based treatments, or hormonal IUD), as well as non-hormonal medications for pain relief. In some cases, fertility-focused strategies or assisted reproductive treatments may also be considered. Care is guided by an evidence-based approach, with close attention to your preferences and ongoing support throughout your treatment journey.
Can endometriosis affect my fertility?
Yes, endometriosis can affect fertility, depending on its severity and location. If you are trying to conceive, I can assess how it may be impacting your fertility and guide the most appropriate pathway, whether that involves optimising natural conception, ovarian stimulation with IUI, or IVF. In selected cases, particularly when there are concerns about ovarian reserve or future fertility potential, fertility preservation (such as egg freezing) can be discussed as part of an individualised, proactive plan.
